In January, we're featuring Karen Howard, Chair of the Chatham County Board of Commissioners. A former attorney and lifelong advocate for public education, Karen was first elected to the board in 2014, and previously served as Chair of the Chatham County Board of Education 🍎 She chairs the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization and serves on the Governor's Crime Commission and Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees.

Since arriving in Chatham County in 2007, Commissioner Howard has been deeply involved in local public schools and the arts community🎨, bringing her passion for education and community development to every aspect of her leadership
