    Vic is a native of Burlington, NC and obtained a BS in Civil Engineering Construction Management from NCSU in 1976. Vic attended University of San Francisco in 1977 while working on an MBA and Worked Internationally for the Bechtel Corporation out of San Francisco until 1982.


Vic is married to Sheila Hurley Knight and has two daughters, “Krystle” and “Victoria”. Vic is a member of the Hillsborough United Church of Christ and has volunteered to serve on numerous local civic organizations including JCs, Exchange Club, Daniel Boone Merchants Association, and the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce. He has also chaired several local community committees including the Orange County Regional Telephone Task Force, the Orange County Board of Equalization and Review, The Orange County Inspections Department Advisory Committee, and the Education Foundation for the Orange County Schools. Vic has also served for three years as a School Board member of Abundant Life Christian Academy, as its Finance Director. Vic serves as a Trustee to the John’s River Camp in Boone, NC, past member of the Trustees of Alamance Community College and as an advisory member of the Board of Directors of Hillsborough National Bank and is the Orange County Chair of the NC State Alumni Association.


Vic was Broker/Owner of Century 21 Vic Knight Realty in Hillsborough, NC for over 10 years, and currently owns and operates Chapel Hill Appraisals & Consultants.  Vic has been a Licensed General Contractor in North Carolina, and currently is a NC State Certified Appraiser for Residential & Commercial Properties and specializes in developing moderate and up-scale residential properties in Orange, Alamance, and Chatham Counties.  Vic was President and CEO of TriPointe Management Corp. a full-service Real Estate Property Management Company located in Chapel Hill, NC.


Chapel Hill Board of REALTORS®:


Vic has chaired the Participants Committee, The Education Committee, and the Personnel Committee.  Vic has served as a Director of the Board of REALTORS and Multiple Listing Service, and as a NCAR Director.  He is a past President of the Chapel Hill Board of Realtors (1991) and a Director of the Chapel Hill MLS.  Vic was honored as “REALTOR of the Year” in Chapel Hill in 1991.  He was a Director and the Treasurer of The Triangle Listing Service (TLS) serving on the original Board from 1988 through 1990, and again from 1992 to 1999, in 1995 he served as its Treasurer.  Vic has also served as Treasurer in 1995 and President in 1996 of The Triangle Multiple Listing Service (TMLS).  Vic served 16 years as a Director of Triangle Multiple Listing Service, and also teaches its Orientation Course.  Vic has been an active supporter of REALTORS® in Politics.


North Carolina Association of REALTORS®:


Vic Knight was the 1992 & 1993 chair of the NCAR MLS Subcommittee, and Vice-Chair of Internal Affairs in 1993.  He chaired the 1994 NCAR Internal Affairs Committee, also serving on the committee in 1995.  Vic served on the Convention Committee in 1993.  Vic is the 1998 – 1999 NCAR Regional VP for Region #4; he served in NCAR Leadership for four years as NCAR Treasurer (Including Chair of Finance & Budget, Service Corporation, and Investment Committee).  Vic served a NCAR President-Elect in 2004 and NCAR President in 2005.  Vic Chaired the NCAR Square Footage Task Force providing REALTOR response to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s “Square Footage Guidelines.”  Vic has given Professional Testimony before several State Regulatory Agencies, including The North Carolina Board of Equalization and Review, the North Carolina Utilities Commission, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, the North Carolina Appraisal Board and the North Carolina Board of Home Inspectors.


National Association of REALTORS®:


Vic served as a national adviser to the REALTORS Information Network (RIN) for the formation of RIN’s first Charter Meeting in March 1995, and other RIN meetings through it’s dissolution in 1996.  He was appointed by the National Association of REALTORS® President and served on the PAG and authored a “White Paper” for Member Services in 1995, which was presented to the National Association of REALTORS® BOD in 1996.


Vic served a three-year term on National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) prestigious Multiple Listing Service (MLS) Committee as the NCAR Representative (1999-2001)


Vic was a member of the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of REALTORS® from 2000 through 2015.


Vic served as National Chair of the National Association of REALTORS® Appraisal Committee in 2007 and National Vice-Chair in 2006.


Vic was the chair of the National Association of REALTORS® Re-Affiliation Task Force recommendation of re-affiliation with the Appraisal Institute (2007-2008).


Vic was a Presidential appointee and served on the National Association of REALTORS® Nominating Committee in 2008.


Vic served a three-year term as one of 15 REALTOR® individuals on the National Association of REALTORS® Finance Committee, managing the National Association of REALTORS® $250+ Million yearly budget, and oversight of the National Association of REALTORS® Strategic Investment Reserves totaling over $150 million. Vic served as Vice-Chair of the Strategic Investment Reserves Committee for National Association of REALTORS® who manages National Association of REALTORS® $150 million reserves.


Vic was the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) designate representative appointee to The Appraisal Foundation Advisory Committee (TAFAC) having served a 3-year term through 2010 and chairing the Emerging Issues Sub-Committee in 2010.


Vic was the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) designate appointee to The Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees, serving a three year term starting in 2011. The Appraisal Foundation was authorized by the US Congress in 1989 out of FIRREA to create and monitor the Appraisal Standards Board and the Appraisal Qualifications Board, which governs the 100,000 plus Licensed and Certified Appraisers in the United States, and authored “A Guide to Understanding a Residential Appraisal” which is distributed nationally to all Federally Insured Lending Institutions & Credit Unions thru a partnership with Comptroller of the US Federal Budget Office and the National Association of REALTORS®.


Certified Real Estate Instructor:


Vic is a (ITI) Certified Instructor from North Carolina Association of REALTORS® Instructor Training Institute and is a Distinguished Real Estate Instructor Candidate. Vic is a certified Continuing Education (CE) Instructor for the North Carolina Real Estate Commission and the North Carolina Appraisal Board mandatory annual UpDate and Elective Courses. Vic has been teaching Pre-License and POST-License courses for over 10 years and is a contributing author to the NC Real Estate Commissions Real Estate Manual as well as the NC Real Estate Commission Square Footage Guidelines.

North Carolina Real Estate Commission:


Vic was one of nine members of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission having been appointed by Governor Beverly Perdue in 2009 for a three year term, and reappointed thru 2017, and served as Chairman of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission from 2015 through 2016.


Vic authored the North Carolina Real Estate Commission’s “Residential Square Footage Guidelines” and is a contributing Author to the North Carolina Real Estate Commissions “Real Estate Manual” which is mandatory instructional material for all Pre-Licensing Candidates who are seeking a Broker License in North Carolina.


North Carolina State Bar:


Vic was appointed to serve on the NC State Bar Board of Legal Specialization in 2016 thru 2022, and was co-author of the Legal Specialization Candidate Review policy.
