About
Like others at Weaver St. Realty, I studied Anthropology in college, "the study of what makes us human." It is hard to think of a more central principle to humanity than the concept of Home. Growing up, my parents only moved once and it was to a different home about 10 lots down on the same street. After going to boarding school in a small community with everyone living on the same campus I got to experience the bustling anonymity available at UNC, to then go on to enrich my education in the stillness of the forest living in a yurt outside of Chapel Hill. Today I reside in Burlington with my wife and dog, I work in Burlington, Carrboro, Chapel HIll and Durham and I spend a portion of my year in Montenegro where we just purchased a property in the bayside town of Perast. All of these places hold a meaningful piece of Home for me, reflecting some part of who I am back to me in symbols of my history, values, relationships, endeavors, and hopes for the future. I find these symbols again reflected in the structures, communities, and work places I inhabit, which is why I want to take my time with all of my clients to help you find a home that can hold all of these things for you.
Until 2025, the majority of my work was focused on running my chocolate and nut butter business, Family and Future Wholesome Treats, and you may see me some Saturdays running one of our stands at the Carrboro, Durham or Chapel Hill Farmers markets. My journey with real estate started after I married a small scale real estate investor in Durham, bought my first home in Burlington, and learned many aspects of construction building out my business's commercial kitchen under the mentorship of a very generous friend. Together, my wife and I have been the buyers in five real estate transactions (one in Europe!) and sellers in two transactions. We remodeled one of the homes we sold and took on a full-blown rehabilitation of the other home, which hadn't been lived in for 30 years. We are landlords for two long term rentals in Alamance county and one short term rental in Montenegro, which also serves as a vacation home and foothold should we ever want to move out of the US. Even during the most straightforward transactions I have been a part of, I have leaned on the expertise and reassuring presence of our realtors to get us smoothly and confidently to the closing table. Seeing how much a good realtor can help navigate a complicated transaction is what made me want to start my career as a real estate agent and I wanted to join Weaver St. Realty after working with Gary Phillips and seeing how powerful it can be when your realtor holds a deep understanding not only of the practical elements but also of the energy of a real estate deal.
